At this point I have hit the wall, pushed through it, hit it again, and can now see the light at the end of the tunnel... for real this time.
"My Mini-Fridge is yet again bordering on empty. The Dr. Pepper supply has already been exhausted; this is going to be a problem."
Day 26
If you tuned in yesterday you saw the cardboard templates that I made for the upper shock mounts. If you didn't see that, then shame on you go back and read it! Anyway, today I took the templates and cut the mounts. I used 3/16" steel plate and cut them out with the trusty plasma cutter. Once cut out I put them back on the truck, marked where the holes needed to be for the shocks to bolt through and then set off to drilling the 8 1/2" holes that were needed. With the holes drilled and plates cleaned up I bolted the first pair together using the same 'slugs' that I had used for the trailing arms and put them in place on the cage. I finished the night by welding the first side into place.
Now I know what you all are saying, something along the lines of "That looks like crap!" or "That won't hold up!". Just wait. It's not done yet. Check back tomorrow to hopefully see what the finished product is going to look like!
