Stab Wounds: Three
Hours Worked: Four
Holes Drilled: Five
Bolts Bolted: Six
Day 13
Ah lucky number 13. Today was a great day, I finally feel like this project, this dream, is going become a reality. I now own a linked truck.
Last night I finished mounting the driver side link mounts, both upper and lower. I also got the lower link mount on the axle lined up and tacked on. You may notice the driver side upper link missing, it was just off to make room for me to work under the truck, I didn't put it back on for the photos. I will be bolting them all back up for good this weekend.
Sure there is still a lot too do, like build the bed cage and mount the shocks. Plus I still need to remove the mounts again and weld the plates fully on behind them, and I still need to weld a strap to the bushings on the lower trailing arms for protection against ripping out. But the big hurdle has been cleared, the links are mounted.
Along with all the welding listed above I can now finish putting together the rear axle. It still needs the brakes installed, the axle shafts installed, brake lines hooked up, vents and caps installed, and a final coat of gloss black paint on the lower link mounts.
I guess that is all for today, it was a major major milestone in the build of the truck and I am glad that I can now move onto the tube work. I will now leave you with some photos, hopefully come Monday there will be a slew of new updates for you to enjoy!
