I recently built a new mountain bike, an Ellsworth Evolve. It's actually the first fully custom bike I have put together. It is also a 29er bike which means the tires are 29-inch in size, 3 inches larger than typical mtb tires. I love how the big tires roll over things so much smoother. Im addicted and not looking back.
When I cant make it to the dirt I clip in to my Kona Paddy Wagon single speed / fixed gear road bike. This bike is a great choice for someone who wants to give road riding a try on a limited budget. At a cost of around $650 its tough to beat. Just remember its only got one gear so you will be forced to put some serious work in if climbing tall hills is in your agenda.
