It's easy to lose track of what story went into what issue, so I was pleasantly surprised when I thumbed through a copy of Off-Road yesterday in Borders bookstore.
I wrote the story about this truck a couple of months ago. Deadlines and assignments can leave you in a fog. I'd forgotten that this would be out in print right about now.
The F-250 here is owned by James "Slim" Janssen. Two photo sessions had to be scheduled to get this truck in the bag.
The first time around, James rolled the truck before I got there. He was doing a low-speed powerslide in front of camp and his left rear tire popped off of the bead. After the tire popped off of the bead, the truck lurched toward the high side of the turn and ended up on its lid. Ouch!
What's cool about this truck? A lot. My favorite part is that it's a truck built without unobtanium. I also like the old-school (if you can call '87 to '91 old school) looks.
For the full story, you'll have to track down a copy of Off-Road's March 2010 issue.
