There really isn’t a right thing to say after something like this. No matter what is said or done now, the fact remains that we lost a great member of the off-road community on April 29, 2011.

While out riding with friends during the Rip to the Tip on the Baja Peninsula, Jeff “Ox” Kargola was killed in a fluke motorcycle accident. No one else was involved, and it was just a terrible, terrible accident.

The crew was prepared for almost any type of incident, and Ox had the absolute most and best possible care he could have under the circumstances. Everyone involved with the Desert Assassins’ Rip to the Tip trip sprang into action, working like a single machine with just one mission: save Ox. Within a few minutes, they had Jeff on the helicopter and headed for the hospital in San Felipe. Everyone did everything they could.

Rest in peace, Ox. We’ll miss you.

A memorial was held for Jeff “Ox” Kargola on May 5, 2011 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
