With only three manpower left in the busted 5.9L, this 2000 Durango is headed to Bulletproof for a Hemi 5.7L engine swap out of an '03-'09 Dodge. The Hemi was purchased for $1.800 with an ECU, wiring harness, and transmission, we're going to find out how hard it is to do a 50-state legal engine update into an older 4x4.
The first generation Durango was always my most favorite. Though the second gen had a better drivetrain, it didn't have the style or feel of a truck-derived SUV. To me, it looked more like some bastard mini van. If Dodge had only offered the first gen Durango with a second gen Hemi engine....
I decided to build my own. It had to be street legal, of course, being a CA vehicle, so we're using the ECU, the transmission, and any necessary emissions equipment to make a legal swap of a 5.7L Hemi from a wrecked truck into a first generation Durango.
